Mapusaurus isn't very well known to the public but to dinosaur fans its well known. Baryonyx is different since the public kinda knows about it. Also baryonyx is a lot of peoples favourite dinosaurs its very fucking mainstream. Don't deny that its popular because it is.

There is a difference between popular and well known... Taken from the dictionary. Look at the synonyms part, they are both synonyms of eachother.

Baryonyx is not a lot of people's favourite dinosaurs, and the public has no fucking idea what it is from my experiences. Pretty much everyone in my class have heard about my general online name and had no idea what Baryonyx was and couldn't associate anything with it.

Taken from the dictionary. Look at the synonyms part, they are both synonyms of eachother. Note that synonyms are not always exactly the same as each other. But they are still too similar, unlike what you were trying to express. Also, "well-known" and "popular" are EXACT synonyms of eachother, so your argument is irrelevant. Also, don't compare it to your school, people of your age that have no interest in dinosaurs, in fact, and not exaggerating, barely know anything apart from Tyrannosaurus rex. If you ask any person with interest in dinosaurs, they'll know what Baryonyx walkeri is. Just so you know, here is a list of dinosaurs that in fact ARE unknown: Genyodectes serus Cruxicheiros newmanorum Dromaeosauroides bornholmensis Wintonotitan wattsi Tethyshadros insularis Fukuisaurus tetoriensis Quetecsaurus rusconii Dollodon bampingi Mantellisaurus atherfieldensis Ojoceratops fowleri Iguanacolossus fortis

Thesporerex said that Baryonyx is known by the public, and since my class is the public it is a kinda sufficient example...

I know many things that are well known, but aren't necessarily that popular. Thesporerex said that Baryonyx is known by the public, and since my class is the public it is a kinda sufficient example... "I am popular". Then I also say... "I'm not well-known". That's a contradiction. "I am well-known", "But I am not very popular". That's also a contradiction. There you go; Both are perfect synonyms of eachother. You are just struggling here to prove that you're not a fan of a mainstream creature, so you don't look like a poser. I know, you might not be doing it for that reason, but you do realise that's the impression people have, do you?

Coming from the one who swears to God that his favourite creature isn't mainstream, despite the fact that the opposite is obvious to the tenth power.

I never denied the fact that Baryonyx is fairly mainstream to general dinosaur fans, but I wouldn't say it is that mainstream for general public. Also there are plenty of things that are hated on considerably, but are known very well (I'm not saying that Baryonyx is hated on considerably or anything). Baryonyx is fairly popular (note how before I said it was not very popular, I didn't say it was completely unpopular), but not in comparison to some other theropods.

Oh ffs I never said it wasn't mainstream to general dinosaur fans, I simply said it is not hugely popular.

And in reply to the other post, that ISN'T the point, stop trying to change it, the point is that it is popular amongst dinosaur fans, but you keep denying it.

I never said that Baryonyx wasn't popular, I said it is not VERY popular. You are saying it is extremely popular, and I am denying that. Also just to summarise, I believe that 'well known' is the definition of something that many people have heard of, while 'popular' is something that can only be gained by being well known and liked ASWELL.
